The importance of living a life of gratitude.
We all know that we are suppose to be living with a grateful heart. We all know that we have an entire holiday devoted to giving "thanks" for our blessings. Yet, we find ourselves in this constant want for more! More money, a bigger house, more clothing, the nicer car.
Take a moment, right now, look up from your screen and just breathe. Think about what you actually already have in this life!
You woke up today ALIVE! Breathing, and most likely with all five of your senses. If that isn't enough to get you going, let me try this. You woke up, most likely, in a bed. You were able to get up and have water to take a shower and toilet paper to use the bathroom. Pretty awesome - a life without TP is just no fun!
Really take that in for a moment! I say this to you because we lose sight so easily about what is actually important. Can you imagine waking up without these simple things? You are already winning! Stop complaining.
You may have debt, you may be unemployed, you may be unhappy in your job - these are all things in our control. You have debt - make a budget. You are unemployed - start hustling. You are unhappy in your job - make a choice to fix it or leave. Stop over complicating it!
Living a life of gratitude can feel challenging! I get it. We have thousands of daily distractions and temptations that keep us from feeling thankful. One click onto Instagram and within a moment you want more. You want more stuff.
Watches, earrings, bikinis, Nike's, that cute T-shirt on Etsy. It's just stuff!
All this stuff will never give you a great life. Becoming grateful for what you already have, that right there will lead you to a life of abundance. Learning to live in a way where you spread love instead of negativity, that will lead to an abundant life. Learning what you already have daily and remembering it, will make you realize you are already living an abundant life!
You have to keep life in perspective! Take some time to actually write out a list of things you are grateful for. I even encourage you to do this every morning, before even touching your phone. Get a journal, write down something you tend to overlook daily that you know would be awful to live without! Watch that list grow! You have to remember that there is always, always, always something to be thankful for! You have to believe when you put out an attitude of gratitude, you will receive it back from the universe.
I am grateful that my clothes get a little too tight, because that means I have enough to eat.
I am grateful for the piles of laundry in my home, because it means I have a loving family.
I am grateful for my alarm that goes off in the morning, because it means that I am alive.
Getting the idea?
Change your perspective, change your life.
