Actually open minded!
Not just to something your friend is now obsessed with, but actually opening your mind! We all grow up in different ways. We were all raised in different families, with totally different experiences! And my guess is over 90% of you did not grow up in the “perfect” home that we all had this ridiculous expectation of.
Your way is not always right, and it’s not the only way.
It may sound silly, and you likely have heard it before, but 5+5 = 10 and so does 4+6. Different ways of looking at the same problem. Remember to be humble.
There are so many different experiences, there are so many beautiful things in this world that you were likely never exposed to. Or were taught that those things - were “wrong” or “stupid” or “unrealistic”.
Think about where your limiting beliefs come from? Think about why you feel that way about a certain subject, or product, or place. Is it because someone (who may be miserable or unfulfilled) told you it was bad? Misery loves company, never forget that!
Don’t let someone who gave up on their dreams talk you out of yours! Let go a little.
When starting this journey of mine, I read what to do to help with my anxiety - but my close minded attitude thought, "yeah right this stuff is never going to work." So I would do one thing I was comfortable with, like journaling, and expect my life to change! I was not open minded to the art of affirmations, spirituality, visualization, or meditation.
I read another book, and again a mention of these same practices. So I dabbled, dipped my toe in the pond. Sat with a candle burning, staring at one spot on the wall - thought it was ridiculous, and didn’t give any of the other practices enough of my time or full energy.
Within a few weeks I was heading to the doctor for anxiety and had a panic attack right in her office, enough was enough! I could take prescribed medications or I was going to have to actually open my mind up to natural options! I saw a hypnotherapist and after two sessions, my mind was already less foggy. My chest had less pressure, I was more focused. I opened my mind up to meditation, affirmations, vision boards and God. I let the self limiting, closed minded beliefs go!
It’s going to take time.
Not everything will work for you. Not everything will give you an immediate result. But take a look at your path now, in this very moment. Do you believe there is more? Do you believe that life is not meant to be so stressful? Do you believe that you can attain more? Is there any area of your life where you feel like you have settled?
You are not stuck! You always have choices, and options! Take a chance. Take a baby step. Just try it! There is literally nothing to lose in trying new things! You either found a new passion, or you have a great story!
Open mind. Open heart. Open door. This gives you a life of fulfillment.
Closed mind. Broken heart. Limiting beliefs. This gives you a long life of mediocrity.
The choice is yours. Break the cycle. Break bad habits. Live the life of your freaking dreams!
Because you really can, girl. And you deserve it!
