It is time to change your focus.
The number of followers no longer matters!
Now before you go running for the hills and calling me a crazy person, hear me out!
In years prior, the biggest goals in your social media strategy were to get as many followers as possible to your Instagram, Facebook, or business page. So why is this no longer the most important thing? Because having 10,000 followers is great, but if no one actually sees your post, likes your photo, comments on your questions - your photo dies VERY quickly in the algorithm. No engagement, means less people see your efforts, which in turn means less sales and revenue in your business. With feeds getting overwhelming at this point on social media, it is time to reframe your strategy.
The 2018 way of attracting followers, is VALUE!
It is not about how many followers you have it is about the amount of ENGAGED followers you have!
We are drowning in oceans of information and notifications in the online space at this point! You absolutely have to provide more value than ever before! This isn't a question of if you have to - it is what will give you best chance at being seen, and bump your posts into feeds! This is all a game of attention, what posts will grab the most attention?
It is better to have 500 ENGAGED FOLLOWERS than to have 10,000 who do not care.
Start to think about what you can do to provide value to others more than you are now. Is it tutorials, tips, tricks, life hacks, giveaways? What is it that will make people want to follow you? What questions can you ask in your posts to increase engagement? Look back and see what has done well already in your feed, do more of THAT!
As always, social media is a FREE tool for you to use for your business growth - use it to your advantage!
Optimizing The Season of Crickets
As we wind down 2017 and enter a new year, it is easy to start the negative thoughts about how January is the start of the slow season. Many businesses experience the winter slump after the holidays, it is the ones who use this to their advantage that will ultimately be the leaders.
As a professional, it is your job to always be learning growing and looking into how to expand your talent to serve your clients better. Think about the last time you took a class or course? Has it been a few months? A year? If you are not provided with continuing education by an owner, this doesn't mean it is time to complain. There are UNLIMITED amounts of resources on the internet now at the click of a button! Use this to your benefit! Head over to YouTube and watch some styling videos. Ask a more experienced co-worker if they can help you with something you would like to learn!
Use this time to look into how to market yourself better this year! Go over your promotions, your social media, your retention rates. Check in on your own business! Evaluate what worked this year, and what maybe did not. What are some things you can do to change your business plan.
Could you post more on social media?
Could you invest into a new assistant?
Maybe you need to fire an employee or yes, even a client.
You deserve to have a business that you LOVE! The only way to have that is to sit down and figure out what is not working, and how you can improve.
Lastly, take the time to thank the loyal clients that have been with you. Since you have some free time, think about those clients that are always okay waiting, if you fall behind. Or have moved with you from one spa to the next. It is easy to always keep looking for ways to attract and get more clients on your book. Don't forget about your existing clientele in the process of your marketing strategy.
